Magnolia Bakery and the Last Piece

Today at my daughter's office they celebrated three birthdays. In honor of their birthdays she made one of our favorites, the yellow cake from Magnolia Bakery in New York City. It has a great crumb and their frosting is light and creamy. You got to love their cookbook! Earlier this year another one of my daughters and her friend traveled to New York and stopped by the bakery before they came home and brought me home a box of cup cakes (now that is love). This afternoon I got the last piece of cake from the birthday celebrations at the office and every bite was delicious. If you have a celebration coming up in your life you might want to try this cake out, just be sure to save a piece for yourself.

If you can't purchase self rising flour, or if you'd rather make your own like I do,
here is my recipe;
6 cups of flour
3 tablespoons baking powder
1 tablespoon salt

  2. It was a really good piece of cake. I think it disappeared in about 1 1/2 minutes flat.

  4. Cristie - How long do you cook the cupcakes? I assume it's shorter than the cake.

  5. Hi Caprene!! The cupcakes take between 20 and 22 minutes to bake. If you haven't discovered the use of an ice cream scoop to fill the cupcake pan you might want to try it out- it works like magic! Thanks for checking out my blog.
