Yesterday it was a special pie and I should have used all tried and true recipes for the birthday occasion, but I choose poorly on both the filling and the crust. It looked beautiful but the flavor and texture was poor.
Now I share with you my tried and true recipe for strawberry rhubarb pie. Amy, thank you for sharing it with me. It's wonderful!

I have learned(am still learning)-Don't procrastinate, and "If it ain't broke don't fix it!" As you said, Stick with the tried and true:)

ReplyDeleteAs for life lessons hum...mine as of late is "Why not!" Meaning just go for it. We are only on this earth for a short time.
That is a good life lesson. Pie crusts are fickle things, unfortunately.

ReplyDeleteLife lesson to apply here too - "It's only a thing." Moral being, things are only money and not people; and people are what's important.
Someone once told me, "If you are going to be a knitter you must be willing to unpick". I think that applies to everything we do. Somtimes, we just have to start over and realize that to create great things we will have some failures. It's OK to be imperfect somtimes. We all are. The fruit looks yummy.

ReplyDeleteYour desserts are always so beautiful. I'm sorry you were unhappy with your pie crust, but I understand. I've used the Crisco pie crust for lots of years because it always works for me. I continue to try others but have never found one that I like as well. So, at least you know you have loads of company. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Blessings...Mary
