If you had been out of the country touring Eastern Europe for a month, what comfort food would you want as you steped onto home ground? My daughter returned home from a singing tour and her two requests were #1, a chocolate chip cookie and #2 a simple peanut butter sandwich. I think while she enjoyed all the beautiful pastries and lovely meals, after a month of living out of a suitcase she just wanted something completely from home.
These chocolate chip cookies have been in our family's line up for about 25 years and come to you with the highest of recommendations. Alice was one of the best cookie makers to bless the planet. She didn't however always follow a strict recipe (many of us don't), but I think this pretty closely comes out the way her's did, with the exception of the size. She often made her's extra large for her husband- which were at least one and half the size of these already generous cookies. You see, he needed a large cookie to fill his large hand and heart. If you make the cookie the way this recipe reads you will want to use a large cookie scoop or over fill a standard cookie scoop.
Check your world awearness and see what countries around the globe consider to be their comfort foods by reading this article, it is quite interesting. Can you guess which
countries these foods come from?
Banger and Mash, Milanesa, Beef Escabeche, Miso Soup,
Coddle, Poutine, and Peanut Butter.
Horray for comfort food!
I will have to try this recipe. I am always up for a new cookie!
